Hi,
Ive got a 2005 Sti and its due a small service, 45k miles.
Ive purchased some decent oil and a filter.
My question is would you go and get the service done elsewhere just to keep your service log book fully stamped up, or would you do it yourself and keep receipts to pass on to the next buyer?
The service only involves an oil/filter replacement, then inspecting brakes, steering, suspension etc and rotating tyres.
If you were looking into buying my car, would this put you off buying it?

Because of the age of your car I would get it done by a specialist.
I was in a similar situaltion as you mate. The classic was done away from the garages. But at the end of the day you could get recipts for oil etc but how do you know its actually been done when the seller says. With my new age I though I might as well get it done propperly.
From a buyers point of view if the seller has skimped on services then what else has he skimmped on.

I ended up doing mine but it wasn't straightforward (the dry cranking with the spark plugs out part) and I only did it as I couldn't find a specialist in the Swindon/Bristol area (main dealer was just too pricey for a small service). That way I could also be sure of the oil I was using - Millers fully synth 10W-40.
