Default Car Won't Start!

Car was running fine yesterday but went to do the school run this morning before heading off to work and the car wouldn't unlock using the key fob. Manually unlocked car and the alarm went off, so at least that's working! Thought it might have been the key fob battery so changed that but no, still didn't unlock car.

To be fair, haven't tried starting engine, as didn't want to annoy my neighbours with the alarm keep going off!

Just remembered, the other day, I used the fob to unlock the car but when I tried to start engine it didn't! Locked the car and then unlocked and tried again and engine started fine.

Does it sound like a car battery problem or perhaps immobiliser? The car and key fob were working fine yesterday afternoon!

Argh!!! Days pay lost now!!

I had a similar issue once and just rest the immobiliser. Is it aftermarket.

It's not aftermarket. Just tried re-setting with the pin and keypad and it doesn't seem to have work.

Do you just need to put in just the code numbers? As I noticed there is a star and hash key too. Does the key need to be in the ignition, turned on?

Sorry mate I don't know why I assumed you had a classic.

Sounds like the new age. I can't remember off the top of my head as my new one hasn't kicked up a fuss yet lol. Its all in the manual, I remember reading through it when messing about with the keypad.

Sorry, its a blob (53 plate). Off to read the manual again!

Sounds like I'll have to get a tow truck to take to our not so local dealers. Unless anyone knows another way around it?

Cheers

It shouldn't get to that stage lol. You can disarm the immobilliser using the keypad.

All sorted, was using the wrong code!! It seems to have reset the immobiliser - was just wondering whether I actually need to take it to Subaru now, its worked fine since I reset it! The dealer said I would need to take it in to them, as I'd need to put that code in every time I started the engine but that hasn't happened?

No mate the system is really good and it should be fine. The instructions are very detailed. Not sure how if went into that mode but as long as its working no need to spend the extra cash going to the dealer.

Same happened to my '03 Blob and it was the car battery. The alarm kept going off due to the lack of juice in the battery!

Default Immobiliser

to answer your problem , i'll put my house on the fact that you were parked near to a mobile telephone mast ???? THE SAME happened to me today . Had to have green flag take me home again so i could use the fob to unlock and hey presto all is good again. Its something to do with the mobile telephone mast blocking the signal to your immobiliser from the key , also because the fud who had my car before me changed the keypad number and didnt write it down , that is useless now too .....oh the joysssss !!

If you can arm/disarm using the remote fob you can change the PIN.

M-Series
Arm/disarm then within 30 seconds enter the following sequence into the keypad
*17856*92*abcd*abcd# (where abcd is the new PIN)
