this is probably a really stupid question but it has been bugging me, I have motec m800 pnp on my car, having very recently had the ECu unlocked by Motec (as previous mapper locked it) the mapper had the pops and bangs taken off the map.

i do miss not having the pops and bangs however i have noticed a vast improvement in fuel consumption? how are these "pops and bangs" achieved? is it by altering the timing etc on over run? and does it actually cause an increase in fuel usage dramatically by having them?

i was planning on contacting simon on beginning of new year to have it tweaked etc and possibly having pops and bangs put back on but was just wondering.

also how does a mapper get the advanced features for the Motec? i read they can be purchased for around £250 (AL and LC) but is this something mappers download and then charge you or does it need to be purchased in advance?

 

from what i can gather the pops n bangs are caused by excess fuel being dumped into the exhaust.. for instance mine are achieved by rolling along in 3rd or 4th at around 3k then foot down slightly causing boost to kick in then all the way off throttle BANGGGGGGG FLAMESSSSSS SMILESSSSS..

no its not a rb320 its an AP340 well actually it shoulkd be a AP367 LOL
