240bhp on the ppp, the decat may not do you any favours and could cause det and overboosting in cold weather, if your running 250bhp without any issues then I'd be surprised, but the ppp does not like decats as it wasn't mapped for them and causes higher boost that the ecu cannot control

Tony

Ps you won't be running anywhere near 280bhp as your turbo isn't up to flowing that much air.

thanks for the info the decat was already fitted but has never caused any issues with m.o.t time? looked under bonnet and was just a pipe coming form turbo no cat so assume its been decatted sounds and runs well tho

Fit a KS3 and then say that what you cannot hear because of the noise of the engine is what you need to worry about, the ecu is mapped to run x/y/z, if you replace "a", you need to map it for a/x/y/z or else it has "problems".
When the P1 came out, people decatted those, when the engines went bang and it was proven that the decat had caused the issue, they invalidated the engine warranty, ok your car doesnt have a warranty, but you have to be very careful what you do to these cars, the standard ecu seems to cope better than a tuned one in most cases as it has a fair bit of "give" built in, and having had a PPP'd MY00 turbo from new, I can tell you they do det with a decat and that will damage the pistons if left over time, that will put strain on the big end bearing and that will cause engine failure and the last thing you need is a bill for 2k+ for an engine rebuild.

You need to do 1 of 2 things really, monitor what is happening under the bonnet, so the ks3 and some gauges help there, or the 2nd is to get a remap with an esl board, it will mean your car is no longer a ppp car, you could pick up a cheap 2nd hand ecu and get that done then if you sell, put the car back as she should be
