Default Rebuilding my 1st bock

Hi guys any advice you can give me on rebuilding my 1st block? I.e some trade secrets into making it as reliable as possible? Also what sealant is best to use for the 2 block faces? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply, it's having a known good crank fitting into a known good block but all 2nd hand and standard, want to replace the shells but I was going to buy acl and found out there are 2 types, which ones do I need? Is it worth replacing the rings or should they be ok? They have done 81k miles.
