Default 4 pot calipers

does anyone know if you have to split the standard 4 pot calipers when fitting a new seal kit?

No you don't, did mine a few months ago. You just have pull the pistons out and fit new seals

That is assuming the pistons are fine, better splitting them.

but how easy is it to split them? i was thinking of getting a new piston and seal kit for £99 rather than spend £300 on a whole new set up!

Two of my piston were seized and a absolute pig to get out but still managed it without splitting. I turned the pads so the seized piston was free to move and pumped it out.

well, have now mastered my calipers! both had 2 seized pistons! i didn't split them but took them out and cleaned them up, 1 is badly pitted so i will at some point either get new calipers or a new seal and piston kit! wasn't a bad a job as i thought it was going to be!

I split mine as it ensures you can see the bores to clean (I used autosol) and fit the new seals in evenly.
