Default HKS SSQV owners!

Just a few questions, got the opportunity to buy a 2nd hand one of these. Have got it fitted on my car at the mo on loan, seen lots of talk of replicas, how do I tell if this one's genuine or not? Also, I like the noise from it it's a nice chirp/chatter when lifting off, but it's quite quiet. I wouldn't want it too much louder but is there any adjustment to raise the noise level at all? theres an m6 bolt and locknut sticking out of the end that I'm guessing changes the pressure on a spring inside by the feel of it, will this do anything?

Its supposed to adjust it but from my experience it does F.A

Very difficult to tell a fake as some of them are near perfect copies, From what i have noticed over the years, The SSQV I is loudest and least copied but the later SSQV II & III are quiter and there have been more copies than original on the market.

To be honest if the copies are that good then I'd be perfectly happy with a copied one! In my experience with these things chances are they're both made in the same Taiwanese factory anyway, just one is pricier as it's an 'official' HKS model.

So if we're talking about the same thing, do I need to wind the locknut/bolt in or out to increase the volume? Going to have a look at the HKS website now just in case there's an online manual but a first hand answer wouldn't go amiss!

If you've got the silver or gold insert, then yes; buy the purple insert for it is louder (the silver and gold are the same but for the colour).

Just checked and mine already has the purple adaptor in, so I guess it's at its loudest setting. Any more suggestions or is that it? The Bailey one was definitely too loud so I prefer this it's a bit more subtle, just would like it if it was somewhere in the middle.
