Default Low tick over wrx wagon 2001

Hi folks.

I'm new to this forum. I have a 2001 bug eye wrx wagon, totally standard. Problem with it is it ticks over at around 600 rpm, can hold back slightly at times, the engine management light is on, some times it flashes on and off then stays on again. Last week it went off by its self for a few days and has come on permanent again. I have plugged it in on a friends scanner numerous times and it just says missfire detected on cylinders 1,2,3,4. we turn the light off and it allways comes back on within 2 days. has anyone else had this problem?

Cheers lads

Sounds like the ignition system is the problem.
I'd get it to a specialist, NOT a dealer.
