when buying an impreza which says it has a fully forged engine.
how can you be sure it has without taking it apart.

you want to to see proof it has had it done and if it was done at a garage then give them a call just to comfirm it. thats what i would do fella

 

There is no 100% fool proof way of finding out unless you open it up to look at, Some sellers will tell you it has but can't prove it, An invoice is a start but does not guarantee that the engine is still in the car, try and get as much info on the engine build as you can and take it from there

 

Visually i dont think you can. If someone has gone to the expense of forging it you would think/hope they have kept receipts of bits used

 

Any good engine builder would supply a build data sheet with the engine.

 

I usually look for the amount of boost it handles. If it blows they lied!

 

If has got made in China stamped on it, then it will probably be a "forgery"
