mapping does it need doing again
Guys
Need your help again please.
When i bought my car ( a year ago) i was given a decat pipe as well.
Recently i looked at changing my back box but i think the one i have is an H&S back box and more expensive than the one i want to buy so i think im keeping it.
With regards to the de cat pipe im stuck now as to whether the whole system was replaced(possibly H&S) by the other owner and the decat pipe taken off for the mot done by the dealer i got the car from .
if it was mapped originally with the de cat pipe will it need to be re mapped once the pipe was taken off ?
And last question, if i want the de cat pipe on how will i know if its mapped or needs mapping.
Sorry for the questions but i have no idea what to do.
cheers

Simplest answer in terms of mapping is to fit the decat and take it to a dyno and see how it runs etc. But just be prepared to remove the decat again or get it remapped for it.
I assume you are referring to the downpipe, or to the middle cat?

Hi
Right im back again and confused. Engine mapper i read your post but didnt read it properly. I asked my local garage about putting it on the dyno to see what it was running at but they said it doesnt need mapping if its the middle cat . Thats when i looked at your post again and you said down pipe or middle cat.
Can i just put the de cat pipe for the middle cat back on ? is it only if you do the downpipe it needs re mapping.
Sorry for being thick but i just dont know what is right or wrong.
cheers
