Default Newage STI TMIC on Classic STI... map needed?

Would a remap be required when a newage STI top mount intercooler has replaced the standard TMIC on a version 5 classic STI?

This seems to be the only modification.

To really benefit from the larger IC a remap would be needed

I realise a remap would be the ideal situation, but if the car has been ran with a larger TMIC and no remap... will this have had a negative effect on the engine?

I doubt it would be very nessecary, people will say it's needed but cars don't need remapping from summer to winter! I'm sure the ecu is clever enough to cope with the change of intercoolers. Only my opinion though I'm sure I'll be shot down by lots lol.

I would have always thought a front mounted intercooler would require a remap, due to the fact that its in a totally different position and (normally) is much bigger than a standard top mount. But the surface area of the standard classic STI top mount compared to the newage STI top mount isnt that great. Coupled with the fact that its in the same position.

Any further views on this?
