anybody near me with a fault reader

getting the scooby ready for a mot found out my check engine light was on.

no the car has not run in 6 mths ..

i do go out and start her up ..

does anyone have a fault reader i can borrow

What car is it? If its a classic impreza, a fault reader wont do it, but you can read the codes using some plugs under the dash
