my98/99 build.. little to no power
hi peeps ...
Ok so need some advice, tonight i tryed to get my engine up and running for the 1st time since i bought it, its a 98/99 type r and have recently droped the engine etc in place since i bought the car minus engine, gearbox and a few other bits and peices.
Sooo basicly my prob is a almost compleat lack of power, basicly the open door sign works on cluster and i get the key in ingision noise whist door open and interior light works but apart from that i have no power ... the rest of the dash cluster wont come on no headlights no power to engine!
the battrey connections are clean & i also checked all fuses with no problems, the battrey has been charged and checked via a multimeter for voltage.
help would be greatly appreshiated..!

Check to see if all the earth straps are connected or even there at all also check all electrical connections/connectors are clean and pushed home - pull them apart - bit of wd40 on the contacts and re-attach.

Have you checked the loom behind the dash which is also where the ignition wires/ immobiliser wires are? Failing that you might need a map of the loom and trace everything back.

do you have power in the fuse box? check with a metre. from memory there are 2 live leads. one to starter and one to fuse box. check these and see how far the live goes.
stick a jumplead on the earth side of battery and the other end on the engine block near the alternator. This will rule out an earth problem
