Default blobeye coolant leak

Hi all my my03 blobeye has developed a coolant leak on the passenger side. The level in the radiator itself is fine but the overflow bottle has gone down by about an inch overnight but I am not sure if this happened when it was hot last nite or just overnight.
Any ideas?
Cheers

The expansion bottle is there to let coolant in and draw it back out. Only check the level when car is cold and dont compare hot to cold as the bottle level will rise and fall.

Ok thankyou. Are these bottles prone to leaking? Or could it be the pipe underneath?

They arnt prone to leaking and i doubt the bottle will have a crack in it 1 inch down from the full level. When the car is cold, remove the radiator cap near the airfilter, top up to the top of that if needed, then replace the cap and top up the plastic bottle to the line half way down it. Only check the level in the bottle again with the car cold. If you are losing coolant over a period of time, check all hoses. Oh and top up with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water, not just water !

Will give that a go tomorrow. Yesterday coolant seemend to be splattered round the passenger side so I might take off the undertray and see where its coming from. I didnt want to have to take the rad out to check for a leak

You never mentioned that in your first post. Investigation is the keyword. Find where it has come from.

As above: you need to know where it's coming from.

Possible culprits are hose leaks, and over-filling leading to it spitting coolant......but headgasket failure can cause that last too

I hope its not the head gasket! I will have a look tomorrow and report back what I see. Is there a test I can do to check the head gasket?
