tek1 tek2 tek3 meaning?
Hi i have just got hold of a my00 bog standard 76k mile minter! I am re-educating myself about late classics as i previously had a my98. My ecu is a y7 802. I am reading a lot about 800 ecu being better & ppp ecu being best oem which is fine. What i dont understand is when mainly older threads talk about tek1 tek2 tek3? I assume this has something to do with ecutek but can someone explain what this means please? Is it relavant in 2012?

The tek was ecutek mapping stages, its just ecutek basically.
The AE800 and 801 were on MY99 cars, the AE802 are MY00 cars with a little more "eco" friendly and supposedly down on power.
The PPP ecu needs to go with the rest of the pack to give the best performance, its not overly happy being decatted fully either so take note.

Blimey that's a blast from the past..........basically Tek 1/2 were generic maps. I had one and some guy came and flashed the map in the car park.
The Tek 3 was a custom map involving running the car while modifying the map..

Thanks for that explanation. I wonder how many ecu's are about that have those maps on? I assume there is no way of telling if an ecu has been mapped. Nothing has been written on the ecu case & no receipt in the cars history file. Am i right in thinking opensource is basically impossible on my00.
