Hard to tell really, looks like a mix. facelift dash, pre-facelift bumpers. Engine has a wrx intercooler and cant see any red on the inlet-manifold. Im pretty sure that v-limited's came with dccd but no ABS, yours has ABS.

It looks to me to be a WRX type R, there were a few type R's that were wrx and not sti. Id give you the £2K for it cash collected

It's neither of those. It looks like a version 4 WRX type R to me. RA's have 4 doors

Just checked model code, it is V4 WRX type R not an STI. On imports the log books were often wrong due to how many different models there were.

V4 WRX type R is a very rare car and should have GC8E2DD as the VIN code.

Scroll down the page to the 1997 - 1998 models. The first car is a WRX V-Limited.

Might be worth taking out the bit about a driving ban, it gives the impression you've been driving this scoob like a maniac.

According to this site your car is a special edition, WRX R V-Limited 2 door, with 280 PS as standard. Heck that was more power than my 2005 STi when it was stock!

No it's definitely a version 4 because it has the wrong dash and clocks for a version 3. It's easier to change the seats than the dash, loom & clocks

hang on , after reading the ad, it says its been forged, if it has thats why you paid 6k whether or not its a sti

however looking at the pics, even though i cant see the details, i doubt its been forged at all, well not in the way it may have been advertised to you but i wouldnt be able to tell anyway. tthe trouble with scoobies is you just dont know what been done to them with out actually opening up the engine.

Apparently V4 had V3 on the seats to commemorate the previous years rally win.If you read here https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...v-limited.html Nice motor anyway.

As said, wrx type R ltd, they have added a roof vent as these didnt come with one (only the STI had them), if its had a forged engine then that is a bonus, but probably because the original let go
Is it worth 6k that you paid? no.
No point having a forged engine when the rest of the car cannot take the power.

Roof vent is standard on this model....

Brochure scan here.....

http://www.type-ra.co.uk/pdf/version4.pdf

This WAS the mythical 2 door ra untill proven to be the WRX type r v limited.

It was loosely based on the ra which is why they have an ra chassis code...

But clearly Subaru marketed the car as a type r ....

Hmmm interesting that they added a roof vent to the wrx, they never did that to the RA limited, just the STI.

Yes it was definately a mix of parts....hence the confusion surrounding the model.

So its officially a 280 BHP, WRX engined type R with the V-limited styling.
and NOT an RA, but the closest thing to it.
Very Rare it seems.

Still doesnt answer the questions about the difference in mechanical parts, as compared to the STi.?

anyone??
