my99 catch can advice
im starting to think that all my problems are down to how ive fitted my catch can so looking for a little advice on a my99
ive got a moded 2 to 3 port catch can .. now the set up
i have put fresh hose on each of the head/ cam breathers then t-peiced them and routed to 1 port on the catch can.
then crank breather go to other port on catch can ... i have blanked off the pcv valve with a bung and the hose that goes to the pvc valve is also bunged ... so it is effectivly going from crank to catch can
then the 3rd port has a little hose to vta
my problem is that when i give a little push on the throttle and hold my finger over the vta pipe its sucking air in ...
can some 1 please tell me if my set up is right and wether the vta pipe should be push or blowing air out on throttle, i would have thought as its called a vta it should be pushing out not in !
cheers

they will suck and blow depending on what the motor is doing. i did exactly the same thing with t pieces here and there and i started getting a milky build up in the pipes and various parts of the engine. i was told if you t the pipes you will get back pessure issues as there isnt a clear flow to can. now im running a 13mm pipe from each cam cover to the vented can, then large crank breather to a mini k&n filter venting under the car. 2nd crank breather is just blocked off (newage has 2) car is a v2 sti ra with v8 sti motor

mines is a 95 wrx. only difference is i have the main breather going into my resonator delete pipe in before the induction kit and maf. i get no milky stuff and not much crap in the tank at all to be fair.

i normally set em with a T directly above osf cam then the other cam runs into this then to the tank placed next to abs unit or under boost controll never had any issues this way i do prefer the canswith integral top breathers too

Ok just been out to have a quick play .. I set 2 pipes 1 from each of the cam breathers to catch tank and the 3rd vta but still feels like its sucking in from vta pipe ...
I then put a bit of pipe on the crank breather and just left it to vta
Started car and both feel like there sucking in as apose to pushing out ... Wtf ...
Any ideas

My catch can setup is two hoses from rocker cover breathers to can, blank off pcv with a bung on inlet, block the top of pipe coming from crank breather and put another hose on the bottom of pipe to catch can. works perfect i emptied it last week.
The pipe marked red in pic block that at the top and then connect other hose highlighted yellow to catch can.
My car is a my98 sti with a sti8 short motor
all 3 hoses to can and a vented pipe from top of can to below bulkhead area.
