Engine remap recommendations

Engine remap recommendations
Looking at remapping my 94-00 classic JDM version 6 STi. It's only changes from manufacturer's spec are a full exhaust system and panel filter. I was told that import cars tend to be running at around 300bhp; the official technical details are apparently a 0-62mph in 4.6.
I was just wondering whether it would be worth looking into an engine remap to get some extra horsies. I'm not really sure where to go.. plus, I use the car on a daily basis for work. Is there any kind of risk? I've heard some horror stories but I've also heard some remaps will actually improve torque and horsepower without any additional risk on the engine.

I'd defo get it mapped mate, your at more of a risk running mods with no map atall, especially if its an import as it may well have a base map thats set for Japanese fuel.
Aslong as the guy that maps your car is a specialist you'll be fine.
I'd say closer to 280bhp out the box, dunno if the exhaust would do anything without a remap.

Most mappers travel, I used Duncan @ racedynamics, others that will come recommended are Bob Rawel, Simon aka jolly green monster and Andy Forrest to name a few. I'm sure there are others that members will recommend also.
