UK WRX don't have AVCS heads and JDM WRX have AVCS Heads and due this making more power and turbo spools better
Second difference is in the internals between the JDM STi and UK STi,cams are slightly hotter and not sure if is there difference between the ECU(i know difference is when you have ECU mapped via EcuTek and JDM STi can have LC and UK STi don't)
As i said engine difference between the JDM WRX and UK WRX in AVCS and few other bits
Gearbox think are same, only JDM come with 4EAT with tiptronic and only on v7 onwards.

From: 1600cc's of twin scroll fun :)
To start with, as stated, the JDM wrx has avcs, is mapped for a higher octane fuel and has really crappy brakes (2 pots on the front, single on the rear, backwards step compared to the 4 pot subaru front and 2 pot rear on a UK wrx).
STI's are totally different, the shell is about the only thing similar, engines are twin scroll v single scroll, different uprated internals in the twin scrolls (though they do share parts like the rods), gearboxes are different, some are A-DCCD boxes, most have quick rack steering (those without A-DCCD will have fast rack), different rear diff, rear wiper etc, far too much to list really, but there are also differences in the ecu's (more features like the i/c auto etc).
I doubt it would be straight forward to drop a UK engine into a JDM car and vice versa, though you could get away with parts between the WRX's, the JDM twin scroll really wouldnt be an easy swap without replacing the engine, manifold and exhaust system due to it being different to the single scroll item(s)
