Default What engine oil for 1999 Classic Turbo.

Its time for another oil change, what oil do you recomend?Halfords currently has a deal on Castrol Magnitec 10w-40 and 5w-30. for £17I have been putting 10w-40 up until now but when i did a search on what i should put in it, all sorts of things came up.semi or fully?10w40 or 5w30 or something else?ThanksDan

Personally, I'd stay away from magnatec, I was always told its no good for turbo charged engines.
10w40 is what I use, 5w30 is a no go!! 5w40 is ok for normal use
Most people's here use millers.

sorry, car is a daily runner remapped and running at 266bhp..... I do give it some stick every now and then though

A 10/40 is ideal. If you change it pretty regular semi syn is fine. If you want the best protection then 10/40 fully like motul,millers or fuchs as its now called. Used to be silkolene.

I'd go for Fuchs fully synthetic 10/50 if you drive it hard.

Millers is good but so is Fuchs & it's made here in the UK too. RCM recommend & use Fuchs too so it must be good stuff.

I use millers 10/40 f/s triple ester formulation,not cheap but great oil!

dont bother with the magnatec as when changed mine lost oil pressure at idle and car sounded like bag of spanners.changed to millers and all happy again.

All pretty sound advice, but I wouldn't bother with a semi, you end up needing to change it more often, so a decent full synthetic works out cheaper as well as better for the car.
