Question Weird clicking from engine - solenoid fail??

Hi,

My car makes a weird fairly rapid clicking sound from the r/h side of the engine bay but only when the accelerator is pressed (even when stationary).

I did a search and a few threads suggested solenoid problems - it's running an aftermarket 3 port. It seems to be noisier recently and the car has felt a bit slower to pickup (could be the lack of v power in these parts), the idle drops very low when manouvering at 1-2mph, almost feels like it's about to loose power steering although this could be a coincidence (flywheel is lightened I think). Seems to drive fine otherwise and makes full boost.

Should the solenoid be clicking away when just revving static???

Car is a blobeye STi with remap
