Default map sensor hose

Hi all.

i've fitted a hks evc4 on my car and been suffering with boost cut. i've traced the problem to no map sensor, can anyone tell me where the vacuum hose goes to. people have told me after the air filter, manifold or leave it i the wing and block off the connection to filter, which is it

cheers Alan

More likely you are trying to run more boost than the standard ecu is happy with hence the boost cut.

Car needs mapping for the boost controller.

thats what i thought, but it's a mines ecu and i removed the factory boost solenoid and map sensor as well by mistake, and forgot where the hose went like a idiot

its probably boost cutting on load at the moment.

the map sensor needs plumbing to the manifold.
Usually a small pipe to middle of the manifold... I presume you will have had to block it off when you remove the map sensor.. in fact the pipe on 92~98 goes through the brown solenoid on the inner wing by the map and boost solenoid (which you need to plug in electrically to stop the engine light) called the pressure exchange solenoid.

the mines ecus are fairly aggressive on timing and using eat engines, with that and the added boost controller becareful.

I'll start from the beginning(proberly should to begin with), my car a legacy gtb which has been single turbo'd with a v4 sti engine. The loom had to be chopped and bypass the solenoid, so i new i had to buy a electronic boost controller because boost was only 0.4.

i'll try plumbing them back in and see what happens

Cheers guys

okay so you need to wire the map sensor (for the sti not the gtb) to the ecu.

If you look on the ecu pin out, you havent said what year ecu you are running?
http://www.jollygreenmonster.com/pinouts.htm

you can wire the map signal wire directly to it and then add 5v and ground to the sensor and fit vac hose..

I've looked into it a bit more now, and i was toying with boost controller and the reading the pressures and it doesn't match up with the boost guage. when the boost controller says 0.8 the gauge says 0.5 -0.6. the problem i have now is it boost cut again on me and now i have no boost and there's a weird whining when it trys to boost is this limp mode.

Still no codes or engine light unless the bulb has gone.
