Default 2.5L STI Boost/spool Info

Currently making some map tweaks for a new sportscat downpipe.

Im getting 1bar boost at 3100rpm in 3rd gear, was expecting a few hundred rpm less to be honest.

Be interested to hear what others have got ( rpm for 1bar boost ) and with what spec.

Cheers
Dan

What are you using to monitor boost? Dont get your head messed up with all this boost business. You will stop enjoying the car less & be more involved with trying to improve the boost.

Sometimes you have to do a few runs - also depends on weather etc.

Using the map sensor value direct from the ECU via the laptop running RomRaider logger software.

Just wanted to know how different spec's ( normal cats, sports cats, decats etc. ) change the spool/boost response. I want to get my moneys worth from the sportscat downpipe but dont know what is a realistic expectation.

Come on everyone, loads of views but no one posted any data

let me know at what rpm you get 1bar boost ( go WOT in 3rd gear from 2000rpm and note the rpm that gives boost = 1bar )

No idea mate as i dont have a guage but when having mine mapped i was told the boost drops off to about 1 bar on higher revs. Probably to stop it lifting the heads. 2.5 sti.

To get it to spool earlier, you need to speak to Harvey (Smith) about one of his trick up-pipes.

He will need to know what turbo, what headers and what exhaust.

Thanks for the replies, I know what hardware changes need doing for earlier spool, I just wanted to know if what I've got from my sportscat matches the norm and how much difference a decat downpipe would make.

So far I've not seen much of a difference in spool compared to a normal downpipe cat.
