Hi guys, having trouble getting the rear hub of my 2001 sti? the abs ring broke while i was taking the disc off to change the rear shoes, so need the hub off to replace the ring, i have tried using pullers but its not budging!!! is there anything i should be doing or does the hub just pull straight off with pullers?

The hub needs to be pressed out from behind, remove the full knuckel first

Once a undone the hub should just pull off the drive shaft complete with carrier and bearing.

No chance with any sort of puller.

As above you need to remove the whole unit, the press the driveflange out of the hub.

You'll also need a new wheel bearing.

did cutting in half work ok? sounds a great fix to me. Assume you cut with s hacksaw' but did the sawcut require filling once bolted back on? cheers Andy

I would like to know as well as my abs ring is broken and needs sorting. Maybe liquid metal in the break then sanded down. The abs sensor is magnetic i think so is quite sensitive to any breaks.

any fix that avoids having to take out the long rear lateral link bolt is a bonus - that bolt is one of worst jobs on imprezas - i hate that F@#kin# bolt.

The only way to do it is brute force - you will lose the rear lateral arm bush as it seizes solid onto the bolt - i burnt out the bush and removed the arm then hit the bolt thro from the nyloc side - i had to use a 4 ft bit of scaffold to turn the bolt as it was solid - Sorry m8 but this is one of the bad jobs - give yourself plenty of time

it might help to some effect but it just brute strength that will get it apart - on one side i cut the bolt head of with a slitting disc and hit it thru from the rear side as you can get a better hit on it with the hammer - lots of heat helped - bloody awful job - fecking delighted mine are both out
