Default high idle revs @1400 please assist

hello people, i have a problem where at idle my 03 wrx is doing 1400rpm.

The other week my alternator belt went and i replaced it last week (i dont use the car much). i went to start car and the battery was flat.
i charged the battery and since then i have the engine warning light on and it idles at 1400 and has surges around 2600 rpm.
i drove it for a while as it drives fine to see if ECU will sort itself ,but it hasnt.
im sure the engine warning light is from when alternator belt snapped unless another error has appeared.
i understand you cant hard reset the newage ecu as well and need to link via OBD II .

Any help or assistance would be appreciated ,thanks Milney

You could remove it and clean with parts cleaner and a spray of wd40 afterwards might do the job
