My scooby is trying to kill me !!!
Right guys im in need of some help
Was driving down the m1 the other day with misses and 2 babys in the back , went to overtake at approx 70-80mph in 5th and all of a sudden i got fuel cut
Only for a second or 2 and then i got power back but the CEL stayed on , i crept the car into slow lane and slowly cruised to my location , left the car in the car park all day and then came back to it , car started first time and was ticking over nicely while ill belted the kids in etc , got in to drive off and it just stalled and wouldnt start again , we called the AA and while waiting we discovered that no power to fuel pump , quickly figured out that fuse sbf#5 30amp in the engine bay had blown , the AA man bridged it with some wire conectors and a 30amp spade fuse and she fired up straight away
He then checked for codes as CEL was still on and found the following code
P0244 (turbo wastegate solenoid A/performance)
He removed the code and CEL and i set off home , drove slowly home (30 miles) no probs , sent a friend over to subaru dealer to pick up a correct fuse and fitted it , less that 3 miles after fitting it i was driving through town and it blew again , no power steering, no power asisted brakes etc , very nearly crashed again
I put the bodged up fuse the AA man made back in and its been fine for last day or so but have only been down the road to work twice
The car has been mapped long before i bought it but still running original fuel pump , i had some issues when i first bought it about 2 months ago with starting being slow so i changed the plugs to ngk heat 7 as advised due the mild tuning , ive ordered a walbro fuel pump as i was going to fit one anyway so that will be changed
Ive come across a full wiring diagram and it seems that theres loads of stuff that run off the sbf#5 fuse and ive noticed that the WASTEGATE SOLENOID VALVE runs off that fuse , could the be any link ? The car has never overboosted to cause fuel cut before ?
Im now scared to take the car out and cant enjoy it , anybody had anything similar ? I really need help with this , dont want to take my misses and kids out in the car (only car we have) and risk a serious accident
Any advise or help would be great

Just blew another 2 fuses , both while standing still , blew the one the AA man mocked up , replaced with a genuine one , started car , ticked over for maybe 1 minute tops and blew the fuse again !!!

if you can get to fuel pump wiring you could put a amp clamp round the 12v feed wire or avo meter in series and measure current draw,, anything above about 7amps and the pump is f##ked

Well from the wiring diagram its inline before loads of stuff , both 02 sensors, air flow meter , all the injectors ,solanoid valve etc etc
The walbro was delivered today , might sound like a complete tool now but do the rear seats fold down in my 2003 sti ? Was trying to put them down today to clean in there and couldnt figure out how they lay flat ??
Got to take them out over the weekend to fit walbro anyhow

If the relay is not working it wont be shutting off when it should which could result in the pump still trying to prime thus putting it under too much strain and drawing too many amps for the fuse to handle causing it to blow all imho of course

No fuel pump relay is working fine , im not convinced its the fuel pump either , as sometimes it will run for a few miles before blowing a fuse and other times it blows 2 just ticking over ???

Still doing it with the new walbro fitted , however its done some strange things
Yesterday i got it out the garage and the revs dropped really sudenly like it had cut out but it just about spluttered back to life , then it was ticking over at my front gates and just died on me , i thought it had blown another fuse but it hadnt and started again first turn , took it out for a drive and it blew 3 fuses , one at about 50mph on country road , one at maybe 10mph cruising up to traffic lights and one just ticking over
What would cut the fuel without blowing the fuse , most the time it blows a fuse but bot yesterday
Fuel pump control module ???

Its finding a good one thats the prob , last garage i took it to asked me where the spark plugs were lol
Anybody have a look at the wiring diagram above and give me some idea of what could be the cause ? Its not throwing a cel or any codes when it blows the fuse and the other day it died without blowing the fuse
Have a fuel pump control module on order atm
If i cant solve this shortly ill be selling it , cant have an unsafe car with my kids in it , so far my subaru ownership (4 months ) has been crap :-(

Looking at that diagram, f5 feeds nearly all the components on the engine.
The obvious thing would be the fuel pump, as you've changed that I would check the wiring to it.
Unless you have a multimeter and you know how to used it you will be just guessing and pissing in the wind.
If I was to guess it I would say fuel pump, fuel pump wiring, fuel pump relay, main relay then any of the other components fed by the fuse.

Similar to a problem my friend had, two specialists couldn't find a fault and he even swapped the ecu and had it mapped a second time
Turned out to be a loose connection around the manifold area iirc, maybe a idea to remove the tmic and have a good check at connections etc.

After reading all the abnove replies, it appears you are clutching at straws on here, and its only becuase people have the knowledge and the ability to be practical, but not seeing the issue in persons is difficult to obtain the actual issue first hand thus the process of ellimination is difficult.
In my opinion you need expert help, where are you based?
Rob
ps: I wouldnt keep blowing fuses by using the car until you seel proffesional help, especially at 50mph on back roads with no ABS! Fuses are there to protect and prevent other things going drastically wrong, and by bypassing or upping the amps on the fuse you could technically cause more issues than you have at present. I would rather fix a bad connection than re-loom a car due to frying one, or worse still causing a fire!

I havnt added any fuse gigher than the 30 amps that were already fitted , each time i unplug things and pull wires about i have no choice other than drive it to see if its cured , nobody has a clue where to start asits so intermittent , even the garages ive rang inc some huge subaru specialists on here dont want to know
You cant find a fault when the car is working , ive spent hours looking at wiring and nothing , the loom is so well protected that i doubt ill ever find it
