I'm thinking of having a standard impreza wrx 2002 model remapped by Flash remapping in Bexleyheath, Kent.
Been quoted £250 for approx 35bhp gain and increased range to more usuable power, has anyone used them? Thanks, Robin

Presumably they just flash a generic map onto your ECU (or have I got wrong end of stick?)?
If I am right much better to get a proper remap. I have same model and year as you. You can get OS (opensource) remap for about £350. Much better to spend the extra £100 and have a reputable mapper tailor the map to your car and its mods. Also they are going to be using det cans and the like to monitor what is going on under the bonnet.
Their flash may be right for one car but not all so be cautious.
Do a search for opensource mappers on here, you will get plenty of opinions and options.

If its a simple Flash, it'll more than likely be a PPP style type of Map, which IMO is still a fairly crap map, over fuels as its generick, as been said, pay the extra £100 and get it done properly.

last place i know that did flash ampping had good stats, 15 maps, 7 blown engines, so 1/2, not a bad success rate,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
p.s. please take this with a cargo ship load of sarcasm, stay well clear of flash maps, anyone who does them for scoobs doesn;t have a clue.

OP, that flash is 250 quid, your engine rebuild will be 10 times that price, so help yourself, but this is why OS mapping is a mine field and should only be done by those who know what they are doing, not by a company who just downloaded a rom file

Hi all. I've registered as I would like to respond to Robin's post earlier. We do not and have never used generic maps. All our maps are custom written by Viezu Technologies - I am a Platinum Level Dealer of Viezu Technologies, incidentally a company that have recently been voted by The Institute of Transport Management as Tuner of the Year for 2012 and I have been in the remapping business for 5+ years. I have remapped many Subarus using Viezu software and we have never had any engine problems as a result of our remaps. In fact, not only are Viezu the only ISO 9001 accredited remapping company, they are also covered by underwritten insurance by Royal Sun Alliance, which I'm sure they wouldn't be able to attain had they had any persistent problems. We run Tatrix, AlienTech Kess and Ecu-Tek systems amongst others - all of which can remap Subarus and we moniter them before and after the remap to ensure the car is running as we expect. We don't just take the booking and map the car, we offer advice and support on the software and talk through the process with all our clients and make sure we match their needs and expectations. We try to make our prices as competitive as possible, this doesn't necessarily mean its a compromise in quality or service - perhaps we should put our prices up LOL! I hope this has answered any concerns regarding our company.

The PPP map isnt crap, its actually better in most cases than your "safe" remaps as they build in alot more safety features, hence why most PPP cars dont see the top figures on rolling roads because these safety features cut in to save the engine (due to heat soak etc), so please dont put it down as being crap just because it doesnt make as much power.

The main issue with the 2.5's Jura was the fact they were not meant to be tuned as highly as they were, hence you see the JDM cars (Impreza's) that have a 2.5ltr engine (they do do them

Hi Mickey. No we're not on the dealer list for Ecu-Tek, we are working in association with Sanspeed at Bexleyheath who are a master Ecu-Tek dealer and have been for many many years. However they're not on the list either, I will ask them to update it as its currently showing they only have one dealer in the South East according to their website.
If you have any other queries regarding our company, you could have a look at our website or our facebook site and you will see that we remap many cars every month using custom written files. I have included on the website testimonials - genuine testimonials - and I include photos of all cars I remap.
I've not come on here to advertise my company, I've registered so that I can make it clear that we are not a company that uses generic files as it was suggested on an earlier post.

Hi Tidgy
Yes we tailor the map to the car and its modifications and to the owners requirements
We are by no means a Subaru only specialist as Im sure some of the tuners on your fine forum are. You can see this from the cars on our website - we have personally remapped 20ish Subarus
Again though my point on coming on this forum was to correct the poster who suggested we use generic files - which could be potentially damaging to a company

Just to add my input i had a viezu power map done on my Audi a4 1.8T and never had a problem in 6 years of ownership The map i was told actually adapts to driving style as it learns and monitors the running of the car.The mappers have to upload a vehicle health check first off to veizu who then analyse it and re send a map to suit the car.. paid about £250 as well locally from revs west so can personally recommend there map ![Thumb](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif)

Subaru mapping must be done live, and each parameter adjusted to the specific car, just sending specs etc off and having a map written off the car is asking for trouble.
Do you actually write the maps yourself for the car adjusting as you go or just load the one sent by the 'factory'? Personally I'll pay the small premium to get it done properly on a rolling road then road mapped!
