Yo,

Just bought a Wagon and the starter motor sounds like its sticking slightly, it's as if it carries on trying to start it for a second or so after its started, the noise it makes if you turn the key when the engine is running ..

Also, 3 times in my 150 mile drive home, 4th gear felt like I was trying to put it into reserve whilst moving, it only handed when I booted it and all other times, and all other gears are perfect, no clutch slip .. any ideas?

 

Its the bendix in the end of the starter cone sounds if its dry and its holding onto the flywheel, take starter out and ckeck it, the gearbox prob sounds like it could be the small spring that pulls your gear stick to the centre is worn, streched or fallen off , they wear and break mate

You will have to take starter motor off mate not a big job only 1 bolt and 1 nut holds it to the bell housing plus the cables at the nose of the started there is a brass bush in there it some times wears and dries out try some spray grease in , have to noe now mate ive got a coach to repair
