Hello everyone,

Apologies in advance if these questions seem dumb but I have to ask.
I have a 2003 model WRX wagon, it has a wide exhaust pipe with STI on the side of it. It has a pink badge on the front in the form of a wavey silver I.

I got underneath the car today and noticed that the exhaust system from the turbo back is 2.5 inches in diameter - except where it meets the backbox pipe which is 2 inches in diameter. Throughout the 2.5 inch sections it appears normal looking with the usual catalytic converters in place.

So a couple of questions:

1. is 2.5 inch turbo back standard
2. is it normal to have it restricted down to 2.0 inches at the last bit
3. if thats not normal is it robbing me of power?
4. is my car standard?

It seems to go reasonably well.
Any guidance greatly appreciated. Im in Lichfield so if someone wanted to come have a look at it to confirm thats even more appreciated.

Hi mate thanks for the response. I dont know what the phaaark the previous owner was thinking with that exhaust restriction... will have to deal with it. Can you think of any reason apart from stupidity that someone would reduce the diameter of the pipe at the end?

I have a back box that came of my type R if you want PM me and i will send you some pictures. I not sure if it is the same as your car but im sure someone will pop along and clear it.
