Default 1994 WRX Impreza??

Hey all,

I'm just after a bit of advice as to a 1994 Impreza WRX..
I have been offered one but before going a head i wondered if there were any common faults or things to look out for when looking around the car?
As said it is a 1994 and has 88,900 on the clock.

Thank you for any help!

Ask the basic questions before you look over the car,

What type of fuel has the owner been using (super unleaded prefered)
What type of oil
how often serviced etc

Checks on the car

all the usual used car checks
check the fuel filler neck for signs of leaking
put your hand inside the rear arches above the wheel and feel towards your body and make sure the inner arches arnt rotten
check when you rev the car theres no smoke and again while driving into boost and on overrun theres no smoke
check the front and rear subframes as they usually rot first
check the p/s pump for leaks as thats pretty common also,
feel the boot carpet inside as the rear lights are known to leak also

theres loads more which im sure some of the rest of the guys will add to
hope this helps mate

I would also ask it's standard or has been modified (upping boost etc) and if so who did the mods.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subframe

P/S pump is power steering pump they, have a habit of leaking at the bottom due to an o ring that needs replacing.

However I will say that you will get corrosion on the subframes as it's metal so will rust,I've got some on my 98 Type R (mentioned in my MOT report today),depends how bad it is really.

My old 93WRX is still going strong (approx 107000 miles) so wouldn't worry about mileage just service history (as rowen_20 mentioned)

If you have an local Subaru clubs/specialists near you pop along and ask if someone can look the car over for you
