pointless on an impreza, just drive off boost for the last few miles, wont damage your car though as all they do is leave the engine idling.

that said they are useful for defrosting your car in winter without the keys in it.

i have one but it was given to me.

on mine you start the car and you can remove the ignition key and it stays running for a set amount of time which can be adjusted on the screen.

if the handbrake is released while the timer is on the engine cuts out.

for the job you want it is great

so im guessing that you nip out and start your car, remove the keys and go for a cuppa then when the timer has finished its cycle you just go out and start the car again? maybe a remote start could be a good idea for me to save me leaving the house

on mine i can set the timer to run as long as i want it to but yes you start the car remove the keys and it stays running until either the handbrake is released or the timer runs down.

What i like to see in a forum is a search button....This debate is as old as the wheel!

.......where shall we go next, "which dump valve"? or "800bhp on a budget"?

You need to remember that leaving your engine idling, particularly on a cold morning isn`t very good for the engine...condensation build up etc. Also, you need to remember that the other fluids aren`t warmed up either. Some muppet posted the other day that he uses his to warm the engine so then he can rag it straight away I feel sorry for his gearbox and diff

I too have early starts and all I do is start the car. put the fans on the screen full power circling in the car. then scrape... Sip of tea then do the side windows.

Personally a turbo timer is just leaving a car sitting there with the engine running which surely doesn't let the oil cool?

I didn't have one for this reason.
