Hi all bought my first impreza the other day started it yesterday morning and it was starting my l200! Lot of smoke is this normal? Also the oil level is low which is best to replace it?, I'm thinking valve stem oil seals?? I hope only bought cos it just had all belts oil and oil filters done, what are your thoughts?

What colour is the smoke? Also if you have just had an oil change how low is low? Are you loosing a lot of oil?

 

Is it decatted also?

 

Blue smoke on acceleration and overrun below low mark on dip stick?, haven't had it 3 days so don't know how much its used.

Blue smoke is typically piston rings

 

Doesn't sound good. Did you buy it trade or private? Was it smoking on the test drive? What mileage has it done?

 

Typical started it up today no smoke on start up, filled oil up so I'll see how much it uses, it's done 89,932 had all the belts, water pump oil and oil filter done just over 1000 miles ago, bought it private has loads of history a cam belts replaced clutches replaced hpi clear etc, getting a compression test done early next week see its losing oil anywhere, also it's got a greddy box of tricks next on the left hand side of the intercooler, what's that ? I also think the intercooler maybe up rated ??
