How to check gearbox oil properly, HELP!!!
I feel pretty stupid asking this but what is the correct way to check gearbox oil in a 95 Version 2 STI.
Do you check the dip stick when it's hot or cold??
And is the mark you read it from the highest wetted area where the oil has reached the stick?
Should be a simple one for all you experts out there so please help!

Sweet cheers guys!
I was asking this as I have just got myself my first scooby a 95 WRX STI which has started to make a sort of scraping noise when changing gear and if I push the gear stick around in neutral when coasting with the clutch down it creates the noise when contacts the side of the box. (Sorry probably not the right way to explain it) Its a noticeable noise but not so loud I cant hear it with the window open for example.
The gearbox was rebuilt by pervious owner about 18 - 24 months ago and I have since topped up the box oil as it was a little low.
Please help scared of driving it at the moment as i dont want to do any more damage!
