Default O2 sensor problem

Hello,

I've had an idle problem for a while and yesterday my car (V5 STI) gave me a error code.
Three long flashes followed by two short. This reads as an O2 sensor problem.

Couple of questions.

Is it ok to drive the car, if I stay off boost? It stalls on idle sometimes but I can live with that for the moment.

Whats the best sensor to get, Denso, NGK, etc. Anyone know the part no?

How hard is it to fit?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance.

Dave

hi, did you fix this?

im in the exact same boat, i was advised to change the maf sensor first as this can flag up the wrong code and is normally the culprit... changed it and its still has the problem and is still showing the o2 sensor as the fault.

Hey, I changed the o2 sensor and it was a little better but not much so I ended up changing the MAF. The car now runs fine.
Reading various forums it looks like when one fails it can take the other one with it.

Hope you get yours sorted.

Dave

Unfortunetely sometimes you wont get a light for the MAF and was probably the underlying issue that caused the lambda to fail due to incorrect fueling
