Default Newbie- Gonna buy BUGEYE WAGON. A few questions.

Hi,

Have found a bog standard 2002 Bugeye wrx wagon which i will more than likely buy as it will also suit the family. Just a few questions if anyone could help me with please.

1. Are the suspension components, bushes and anti roll bars the same for the 4door sedan as per the Wagon?

2. The car i'm looking at is standard. Which type of exhaust systems can i get away with fitting before the ecu would need remapping? Do exausts from classic impreza fit?

3. Is it just panel type airfilters that can be fitted before a remap would be needed?

4. Have read that the axles are not as wise as the sedan, is this really a noticeably difference to handling other than looks with the flatter wings.

5. Are the standard brakes up to the job?

6. Any other basic essential mods or advice? Am only after mild tuning of engine and handling.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi there

Here are some answers on your questions.

1. Yes you can fit suspension components(Coilovers,ARB's,Droplinks,ALK etc.) from Sedan/saloon on Wagon without the problem.

2. Exhaust you can fit too from saloon and will fit, specific exhaust for Wagon don't exist,Yes you can fit too exhaust from Classic, just hanger on the backbox is on different place, which will need to re-weld on correct place, but will fit without the problem.

3. Personally before remap would add decatted Downpipe and Decatted Up pipe(STi Up pipe is cheap and good replacement) and with remap you should have 270-280bhp

4. Handling depends on suspension parts/upgrades what you have fitted,we are tracking our wagon like on track or drag strip and working well, for us.With right parts fitted wagon can be same as Saloon/Sedan

5. Essential mods on the handling would recommend:

Front ARB 22mm and rear ARB 24mm
Solid droplinks(Super-Pro or CDF,WhiteLine,FloFlex etc.)
Good lowering springs will help too

Engine mods:

Decatted Up pipe(STi Up pipe will be good choice and is cheap)
Decatted Downpipe(depends on your exhaust, but 2.5" should be best bet for whole exhaust)
Panel Filter(K&N or Green Cotton)
Remap Open source or EcuTek depends on what money allow, both will give same figures

Hope this help
