Bonnet release failure - Due to flat battery?
Hi all,
In need of some help. I've had my Scooby parked up for a while now and the battery has run flat.
Problem I have is that I can't even access the battery to charge it as the bonnet release mechanism isn't behaving.
Is this due to battery itself being dead and the alarm system factoring in somehow or has the cable failed?
The odd thing is the boot won't open either?
Any help is appreciated.

Ok, cheers, how would I open the bonnet without using the bonnet release in the cabin? I can access the latch being going through above the grill but pressing it doesn't do squat...
No one around to help by pressing down on the hood while I keep triggering the cabin release either...

I had some issues with my bonnet release, but opposite problem. The tension in the bonnet release cable had gone slightly slack and wouldn't lock the boot properly.
I just sprayed some WD40 over the bonnet mechanism as it was very clogged in grime and muck, opened and shut the bonnet a few times and it freed up and worked fine! Not had a problem since.
If it's been sat still for a while then maybe the latch has gone a bit stiff/rusty. spray something on it to loosen up any rust or grit/dirt, let it work its magic for a few minutes then give the lever in under the steering wheel a few tugs and see if it pops open. repeat the process a few times and see if that does the job.
