Default Are version 1-4 engines the same

Hi I have a 1995 Wrx saloon and I have got another engine for it mine has black Bakelite type material pulleys on my engine and the one I'm fitting has metal pulleys I think it was out a 1996 hatch does this make any difference will fit and is it any better or worse

Any help would be gratefully appreciated

Version 1-4 engines are the same in terms of they will fit, manifolds etc, later engines have changes to heads and pistons but they are much the same power/strength wise.
