Default Help me identify this engine

It came out of my 1996 RA STi with a/c. The previous owner had a recon fitted If its not the right motor, can anyone tell me the spec or what model it came from?

Cheers

Sorry about the poor quality of the turbo pic.

It's not a CDB as its not got the cross hatchings, the sti ra should have the CDB engine. Also I'm not 100% but the heads should be V3 heads for your car which have a smooth casing not ribbed, are you sure it's a 1996 as that engine is an earlier V1 or V2. It's got the right inlet with the 5th injector

Hope this helps if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will put you right

Default Engine.

Defo not a v2 sti type ra engine. No cross hatchings on the block. Tim.

Thanks for the replies, I'm pretty sure its a wrx.

My dilema is .....

Ive been offered an early coil in head closed block sti motor for £550 and been assured its a goodun but being a cynical old thing I dont think I could trust it

Alternatively spend the £550 + on a crank rebuild for the existing engine. Would the RA STI injectors/turbo/manifold/ecu on a wrx block and heads give me STI type bhp power ? Would it be a mismatch of parts and not run properly?

Cheers
