Default Coilpack and inlet question

Hi
I have recently fitted a new engine in to my 1995 classic wrx.
My new engine is a p1 block with v4 heads and ive noticed my coilpacks dont fit.
Do i need v4 coilpacks and do they just plug into my std loom?
Also can i use my std wrx inlet manifold with this set up?
Thanks

V4 doesnt use individual coil packs, just a single one on the inlet manifold and then HT leads to the plugs.

I've fitted early coil packs to V4 Sti heads before. You either use the original cam covers or I think you can take out the centre seals and bushings where the coil pack bolts would go and voila.

Use the original '95 inlet manifold. As the later ones have different throttle bodies and not easy to convert. Also all wiring will match up perfectly. You'll be stuck with a top entry turbo though .

Also a P1 block (phase 2 rear main thrust) would have different water cross pipes, so you'll need to use the original '95 one as it has it's sensors and pipes in different places and won't match the wiring loom otherwise.

Lastly and most importantly check you're L-IN cam pulley (the one by the cam sensor) is the right one for the '95. If it's made for a P1 you're car won't start.

Thanks for the info
Where are the inserts for the coilpack? (do you mean strip the coilpack inself or the cam cover?)

Im also using the 1995 inlet manifold and water crossover pipe
All pulley have been transfered from my std engine onto this one so i should be ok right?

Great response by the way

Don't strip the coil packs. Take the middle bolts out of the cam covers the ones near the spark plugs. Also take out the bushing. Now fit the coil packs.
Cam pulley should be ok
