Did you check the rocker cover seal?

It's hard to see anything from second picture.

I would say it is the rocker cover gasket. Changed one on mine yesterday and it wasnt a hard job. I used a genuine gasket kit with threebond 1215 sealant. Clean all the surfaces and take your time. It was easier than i thought it would be and not very expensive. Around £75 for the gasket and sealer then oil and filter obviously.

Just take out the airbox and your away.

Oh and check the other side. Better to do both if they are both leaking.

I would guess it's the rocket cover (camshaft cover) seal that's leaking. It's a bit of a pain to get to to replace it, but is pretty straightforward as long as you thorough and make sure everything is spotless before you reassemble.

As above, camcover gasket/bolt seals/half-moons.
Check the turbo oil drain rubber hose too as tend to leak.

If your classic is pre v5 9/98 then it has 6 bolts if its v5/6 then i believe it has eight. (Someone will correct me if im wrong). The kits have gasket, spark plug gaskets, bolt gaskets (either 6 or 8) and oil seperator gasket. The half moons tend to be sold seperatley.
Mine is a my98 gc8e (ej20k engine code) and has 6 bolts.
You are looking for the 10mm bolts around the outside of the cover and you will need a small ratchet and 10mm ratchet spanner.

Mine is my00 classic so will have 8 bolts. Would I be correct in saying that the gasket is on the end of the engine and runs top to bottom unlike most engines were rocker cover is on the top of the engine.
Do I purchase 3bond from Subaru dealer along with gaskets.

Correct about the gasket being at each end of the the engine due to being a boxer.
I bought the genuine gasket and threebond from the same guy on ebay.

Sellers name is markicp on ebay(100% positive feedback)

Just make sure you get the correct gasket kit and 1215 threebond.

I would have a good look around the rocker cover first as my headers have oil on in a similar fashion and it looks as if its coming from the cam belt cover meaning its possibly cam or crank seal.

Cam or crank seal leaking, would the oil end up on the r/h side of the bottom of the engine under rocker cover gasket?
I am fairly sure it's inline with the bottom of rocker gasket.

I have nearly the same car as you and exactly the same oil leak. I replaced my timing belt in Nov and there were no leaks at the front of the engine confirming (at least to me) that it is the rocker cover or cover bolt that's leaking. It is so small a leak though that I will leave it until my next oil and spark plug change before fixing it.
