Default Cylinder 2 misfire

Hi guys,

ran into a bit of trouble tonight and could do with some friendly advice.

Ok, so due to work commitments i barely get to drive my car anymore and she spends most of her time on the drive. The petrol tank was nigh on empty so i filled her up this morning (momentum) ive had no problems all day (only around town) tonight i decided to go for a drive to open her up a bit as shell be back into hibernation next week. Anyway with about half a tank left i went WOT in 2nd gear and at around 4k it stuttered for a split second and again at 5.5 so i pulled over plugged in my odb reader and had a fault reading cylinder 2 misfire. (cel was not lit)

I switched off for about 20 mins (quick ciggy and mooch under the bonnet) started up again, (re-read and no fault :s) drove for about 5 miles with 3k max revs, began slowly raising revs and no hesitation (woohoo) however once brave enough i went WOT in 2nd again and now its only boosting to 0.5 bar. Considering it was half 11 i poodled home ready to have a look in daylight tomorrow.

It was when i parked up i noticed that the petrol gauge has dropped 2/3 and ive only covered 110 miles so she seems to be drinking a bit (possibly running rich due to boost leak?)

So what will i need to be looking at?

The car had a major 6 months ago so plugs, fuel filter etc were all done.

Obviously ill be checking everything from the air intake right the way through to throttle body.
I have read that if i unplug the maf whilst idling if the car stays running it needs replacing? (myth?)

Anything else i should be looking out for?

Car is a standard hawk sti with afterburner catback that has covered around 7k miles and shadow oil temp, press and boost gauge

many thanks

Thanks for the replies guys ill have a look at it in a few days as ill be a bit fragile for a while haha.

Considering the car is only boosting to .5 bar now would that still be a coil pack issue even though it isn't hesitating under full throttle?

Also can anyone point me into the location of the coil pack?

Cheers

There is 2 on either side of the block the one on the right is a bit of a pain to get to cos of battery etc but u should easy be able to locate the 2 left hand ones they look like beigey/ cream hexagon type shaped on side of block, alsoif they are cracked ya can sometimes see them arcing when it's dark
Good luck
