Default testing question

Hi guys. im currently having problems with high idle (impreza 1995 sti 2.0) ..its around 1600rpm on idle and rarely but sometimes cuts out when slowing. I think its the iacv and the one i have is to the right of the throttle body. its the rounder version with a 3 pin connector on top. My question is.....is there anyway to test the iacv before i buy a new one? with a multimeter or some other way?

any advice appreciated

Have you tried cleaning it? As it could be a bit gummed up. Do a search on here as to the best way of cleaning it.

No i havent ive only just located it. I looked at the cleaning vids and they were what was putting off locating it. All the vids show the iacv on the throttle body but mine i now know is to the right. I would try cleaning it but the only vids i can find are for the one on the throttle body. I might try anyway. Think i best get a gasket first but i would still like to see if i can test it at the same time if the cleaning doesnt work.

Im sure i have the right part. I struggled finding it as i always looked for the iacv in the cleaning vid unaware that there are different types. But as i say its not the iacv on the throttle body. I searched on ebay and google pics and matched them to the part ive found so im 100% sure. This is it... http://www.subaru-impreza-parts.co.u...rol-valve.html

Well looked at iacv today aswell as maf sensor. I tested maf sensor with multimeter n the volts read ok from what i find on the net. My iacv was a little dirty but nothing major but cleaned it a little. The valve moved freely. Does anyone know multimeter readings for the iacv?? Also i swiveld the iacv round a little along with swivling the tps. It dropped the revs but they only went to 1300 at lowest and it really wasnt a smooth idle. Plus the cel came on until throttle was pushed so i know the tps was out of place. High idle is constant..is o2 sensor a prob or would a leak round the dump valve affect it..Anymore suggestions on high idle and hopefully anyone know iacv volt readings?
