oil flow which way

i have a oil cooler sandwich plate with 2 pipes coming out of it how can you tell witch one is out and witch one is in

Take it you mean where you connect the oil cooler too. Wouldnt make any difference unless your oil cooler hasd one pipe at the bottom and one at the top.

one pipe is at the top and one is on the bottom

Mine are both at the top of the oil cooler. Are there arrows on the outlet/ inlet as if so I would have thought the oil should flow from bottom to top just like a coolant radiator.
