Default Engine management light

Afternoon all,
my engine management light has suddenly come on, wasn't going quickly anything, just pottering along in traffic, I have tried clearing the ECU but the light came straight back on, no nasty noises, throttle response /boost etc all normal, I know I need to get an OBD to find what the fault is but even if I buy one today off ebay I won't get it until Weds next week, so does anyone have one I could buy or borrow in the B90(Shirley,Solihull West Mids) or surrounding areas, and while I'm on the location of the OBD plug on a 52 plate WRX would be handy,
many thanks in advance,
Baggy

Mate I bought one of the cheap ebay cables and it's helped me out 3 or 4 times and I've also used it on mates' cars and vans no problem.
Your OBDII port is directly underneath the steering column

How have you been clearing the ECU without an OBD cable?

Default Fault code read

evenin'
the scanner arrived today ( bloody bargain piece off **** to use) plugged it in and got the following

Fault :01
PO 171 system too lean bank 1

from the instructions it would appear that there was only 1 fault which I have cleared, any ideas on what would have caused this? I get a little jumpy on engines leaning out to much!
cheers

Usual fault is the ECU being flakey on the Bug WRX............ First thing that would spring to mind would a slightly off MAF misreading airflow and the ECU not putting enough fuel in to make stoic. Failure of the front 02 sensor usually throws up a sensor heating fault.

I'd clear the fault using the OBD tool and see if it reappears
