Question Newbie Questions

Hello everyone i hope this is in the correct place to post,

Basically ive owned seat leon Cupra R and Honda civic Type R etc and i have always wanted to go the scoob route.

i have been looking around and was wondering Classic? or Blobeye ? and looking at the Wrx PPP or STI ?

Looking for some general knowledge from real owners and not biased websites

Are these as reliable as the hondas ? whats the mpg like ?

Any advice would be grateful

They drink a bit, but then the engine does drive 4 wheels instead of 2. I have a Blobeye WRX PPP and I avg between 25-30 mpg and that's not hanging around (when traffic/roads allow)

WRX vs STI? I've only driven a WRX PPP but that's the same horsepower as a standard STI with a touch more torque at lower revs. My sisters boyfriend had a STI PPP and that went like sh*t off a shovel, but have been told that the rides quite harsh and MPG isn't the best - if you want decent MPG then I suggest a diesel. Whilst on a track the STI is best, most reviews from EVO suggest that the WRX PPP is the better car for the road - but each to their own. Am sure that some STI members will have something different to say!!!

But having had 200bhp cars before, the WRX is definately no disappointment. Grips like chewing gum to your shoes, sounds like a car should and from my own experience has bullet proof reliability. Cupra R's are quite rapid themselves and are 0.1 seconds quicker 0-100 than a WRX PPP which is next to nothing. IMO front wheel drive cars are safe, RWD cars are best and 4 wheel drive is the best of both worlds...

I own a blob WRX that I brought 5+ years ago and have changed it into a completely modded 450bhp sti replica so the mpg is crap lol,,,but I brought it when I new nothing about scoobs and just wanted a fast subaru so went more for how it looked over what it came with,,,,this was a big mistake for me as with the modding I had to replace a lot of WRX parts for sti ones that I could of brought with the car if I'd of done my research in the fist place
Three weeks ago I brought another scoob (still have the other one) and wouldn't get anything but a sti as they are far better cars to start with even if this one isn't getting modded lol

thanks for the replies everyone

The cupra R was a night mare too many sensors going wrong all the time, and diesel no way i hate them slow and no guts in them.

Do the scoobs suffer from any major problems ? and also do they suffer from rust ? Are there other places to buy the parts like the germans gsf, tps etc

Im liking the sounds of a wrx ppp the sti sounds a bit expensive to fix

ahh if the mpg is 25-30 ish then sounds good too me im use to using a bit of petrol

Default scoob

I am after a scoob but just a standard wrx as missus wanted A P38 RR but i am a third of way through my mech eng degree and havent got the time to fix electrical faults! I am convincing her a scooby is awd, safe in winter and fairly reliable..my deed is done, plus i think she wants one!

My workhorse is a Volvo v70 2.5td with about 170 ish BHP..guy up here with a scoob said she is quick off the line for a diesel!..high praise..lol
