Default Newby on here, Bottom end advise.

Hi all i'm a newby to here so thought i'd say hello. I'm just wondering about the scoobs famous (for the wrong reeasons) bottom ends, i know some big end bearings are prone to a bit of play shall we say, but if they go, can the big ends be replaced or do they normally score/knacker the crankshaft as well? any advise will be gratefully recieved.

Once they start knocking it's usually a new crank & rods, but some have done budget rebuilds with shells only, but often these have not lasted long.
