Not the best pictures but can these be rebored and rescued?

Id say so, been open deck u would need further advise. i do know bmw leave there
lumps outside to weather and rust! apparently this helps make the metal stronger then they are machined skimmed. your looking at hoaning after having a light skim done cost????? might make your choice more apparent and also what power bhp u plan for the engine.

Well that's just it, it would be a spare so no big figures. But is there any option to get non-forged over sized pistons?

Yep, you can get 1st and second oversize ( 92.25 and 92.50mm ) cast pistons and ring sets from Subaru.

its a basic open deck block so why worry personally??
but to answer your question yes, a hone or potentially a bore and they would be useable

Just options really, spare engine, practice build etc. just need to find where to get genuine pistons.
