Default Rotating an SC54

I'm running an SC54 on a 03 STI 2.1 with supporting mods and was wondering if rotating it would improve spool and wether it is worth the cost compared to gains?
What would I need to carry this out?
Cheers,
James

I think it would be a lot of work as you would need to modify the up-pipe, the down pipe, the water pipes and the oil pipes. It would probably be cheaper to sell your SC54 and buy a rotated turbo kit.

Hi James

You will not gain so much with rotating the DP and Up pipe(you are probably mean S4Y Rotated kit for standard position turbo),not sure how much you will gain on this turbo

Second option is go with NOS just for spool up like we are run(25hp just bring the spool to lower RPM),NOS kit is not expensive(have look on the NOS Sniper kit on the eBay,everything is there for fitting just you will need Solid state relay),fitting should be no problem too

If you are need help just let me know

Jura

Thanks for the replies.
Jura, that is something I will think about regarding the nos kit. The thing is i'm getting used to driving with the SC54 now,I just needed to adjust the way I drove from previous setups.
Whats a billet SC54 worth though as if I could get a decent price a billet gt30 rotated sounds to be a good setup on a 2.1

What would be needed for the water and oil pipes? I already have a braided oil line and it couldn't be too difficult to sort out the water pipes?
Or is not that simple?

Buy the standard fit rotated setup then just make the pipes up to fit. 5 speed or 6 speed? I sold my kit to a mate which has never been used, he might sell

Yup, 5 speed kits won't fit the 6 speed as I found out the hard way

Hi James

NOS if its fitted and mapped correctly will make nice difference on spool up and on top end too,you will gain both plus few lb-ft too

Your previous car has have 2.5L and 20G and this combination must be great on the road, you will need ajust yourself to that, like we are went from VF34 to T and difference has been mainly in spool up,but pro's for T has been great top end and torque

SC54 price I think you should be have no problem to sell for £1200-£1300 maybe more

Jura

Sorry Jura, are you saying I would have trouble selling the sc54?
It sounds stupid but I wouldn't mind getting a smaller turbo if I could sell the sc54 and if they are worth that kind of money or maybe more then that's a bonus.

Why would you want to do that?
It would give marginal boost increase and spool quicker. But this spools quickly anyway, and on a 2.1 would be even quicker.
