Default Battery Tray

I'm about to do a battery relocation and having removed the battery I've had a look at the battery tray to see how to remove it and clean up the inner wing. I can see a number of spot welds that I'll need to remove, but it also looks like it might be bonded on.

Anyone know whether it'll pull straight off if I drill out the spot welds or would I be better getting the dremel out and cutting it off

Cheers

Jon

Will pull straight out mate after drilling the welds. I've recently done it. The body work is only primed underneath

This is exactly what I am doing in the next month or so, relocate the battrey to boot and remove the battery stand... I saw that this is what prodriver done on his project thread and it dose look much better
Jon did u pick up a kit for the relocation, just I have been looking into it and struggled to find a circuit breaker & decent fused power distribution block where did u manage to get yours ?
I can see all the cables etc on eBay, am I right in thinking its just heavy duty amp power cable.

For the cable run you need either 0 or 4 AWG cable.

I ended up buying a 4AWG amp wiring kit as it was cheaper than buying seperate cable, fuses, CBs etc - it doesn't need a CB by te battery, use a single in line fuse instead - that's what I'm doing. I picked up terminals, distribution blocks, wiring kit etc for about £45 all in from eBay and Amazon. I'll put some more detail in my project thread when it warms up again. The only thing I am missing is a 4 AWG butt splice (not as crude as it sounds)

Cheers mate, I'm going to clean up the inner wings anyway so not worried about them only being primed - black or white hammerite

That's exactly what I used. Gave it a good coat of black hammerite before putting the swirl pot system in

You guys could just get rid of your air pump, makes enough room for a catch can etc

Cold air pump. It's a black plast cylinder'ish part near the left strut. It's only there for the American market for their emissions. It will need a map tweak, Duncan has to imput a code. It saves a bit of weight and load of space. I'll find a pic

And these can be removed

I sold these to a guy in Denmark for over £250. Apparently they're used in lagacy's too.

Page 4 shows some of the wiring and page 5 shows removing battery tray

https://www.scoobynet.com/919798-my-...it-more-4.html

Removing the tray can take a while but is simple. Just drill the spot welds and rip out. The hawkeye fuse box is bolted to the tray which will need undoing. Not sure about other newages.

I got all my wiring and parts from:

I couldn't find one of those pseudo battery terminal boxes so I ended up with a fused distibution block

Must admit, their site is hard to use, their catalogue is better. You could always call them, they're pretty easy to chat too.

I've used them for loads of stuff in the past, just didn't see them this time, until I looked again 20-minutes ago I have a couple of fused relays fitted so I can use the fused distribution I have to replace the inline fuses so it worked out well in the end

One thing I would recomend is: put some extra protection around the power wire when going though/under the dash and under the back seats. There's a few sharp edges it could catch on
