TY754 gearbox rebuild 'how to'
Evening chaps, yesterday i purchased a 2001 bugeye WRX UK300 no: 81, and the gearbox has a whine in first and second, well, it sounds a bit like they are straight cut, and there is a slight noise in third also.
Upon checking the gearbox oil level today it was just over the low mark, but the car as on a slight hill when checked...
I have today ordered the oil for the USC cocktail, but i fear that just changing the fluids will not help much. Afterall, it clearly has an issue so just changing the oil may mask it, but wont cure!
I have done a quick search and i cant find anywhere that has a gearbox rebuild how to, or even where to buy replacement parts.
Im quite handy with the spanners so doing the job shouldnt be too much of a problem, provided i can find the parts!
Thanks in advance for any help
Dan

Don, thanks buddy, you are a star!!
are there many places that stock standard replacement parts, like bearings, synchros etc??
i dont think its the front diff that is making the noise, its loudest in first, less so in second and you can just about hear it in third. so surely if it were the diff the noise would be there in all gears?
i guess you can liken the sound to that of being in reverse, but in first and second mainly.
its off for mot today and also a quick diagnostics run on a rolling road for my peice of mind that the engine isnt about to melt etc...
so fingers crossed for that one!
